THE LIFE BLOOD PRINCIPLE:
PART VII. THE MOSAIC DISPENSATION: THE COVENANTS OF ATONEMENT, REDEMPTION & GRACE
I:4 The Mosaic Dispensation (B)
A comparative view of the Mosaic (Dispensation) Covenant (the Old Testament) – the Law of Moses contrasted with the Spiritual/Gospel Dispensation Covenant. (New Testament) with Scriptural Exegesis throughout the Articles.
NOTE: The Law of Moses was the Covenant of Ordinances between GOD and Israel although GOD invited anyone to Covenant with HIM and Love HIM as their GOD.
The Life Blood Principle Continued
The following is a Continuation of The Life Blood Ceremonial “Principle” which was Conveyed to the Jews at the Inception of Israel as a Nation. The Life Blood Principle was adjoined to the Covenant made between GOD and Israel with Moses as the Mediator. It is called the Mosaic Dispensation alluding to Moses.
The Blood of animals (Animal Sacrifices) was the Vicarious or Substitution for the Expiation of Sin, for Atonement and other Functions which were temporarily Effectual towards the Atonement for the Sin of the World but they were inferior in Nature because it was temporary Atonement though the Works of Man which were Polluted with Sin and had to be repeated Annually.
The Law of Moses
The Law of Moses, ushered in at the beginning of the Mosaic Dispensation, was a Figure or Emblem pointing to the Time of the New Testament (Covenant) of CHRIST. The Letter of the Law only Sufficed for the outward Carnal Nature of Man but did not have an Effect on his Inner Self, because since the sin of Adam & Eve he no longer had a Spiritual Nature, he only had his Carnal Nature with a Carnal Conscience, a Defiled Soul, a State of Being, inherited from his Progenitor, Adam. Sin separated Man from GOD and “Something” was needed to remove Sin as the Obstacle and Barrier that prevented the Reconcilement of Man to GOD, to bring them together again. “Something” (a Spirit) was missing in Man which connected him to his Creator GOD and that “Something” could only be Provided by CHRIST JESUS through the HOLY GHOST/SPIRIT; Man must be “Born Again” to See (Perceive) or enter (Inhabit) the Kingdom of GOD/Heaven.
Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Joh 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
1Pe 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
The Annual Sacrifice of Atonement was not sufficient to “Effect Redemption” or to “Pay the Ransom or Debt” to Deliver Man from the Bondage of Slavery in Sin or from the Wrath of Justice.
Heb 10:3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
Heb 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
The Old Testament Covenant provided ways to Temporarily Atone for Man’s Sin but did not Prevent him from Sinning or from Living in sin. Mankind, even with the Law, continued to Sin in Rebellion to GOD and Lived a Deliberate Life of Sin. He Lived a “Crooked” Life. This is one of the root meanings of the word Crooked”. It Depicted a person of illegal means, a person was a “crook” because he lived crookedly and did not Live a Righteous (straight) Life. The Rules and Regulations of the Law of Moses (outward Works) was the Way to Live a “Straight Life” but it was only a Foreshadow of the Way of Righteousness.
The Law of Moses – Temporary Atonement
The Law of Moses was the Carnal (Flesh) Ordinances, a combination of 613 Rules, Regulations, sundry Statutes, and the Temple Laws and Civil Laws which governed Israel as a Nation when she was in Covenant with GOD, as HIS People. The Levitical Priest Code System, located in the Book of Leviticus in the Bible, was a Sacrificial System of Laws and Ordinances which were governed by the Temple, its Priests, Scribes and Jewish leaders. GOD’S Decree Necessitated Blood to make Atonement for the Soul.
Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
Heb 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
Repentance and Atonement
When a Man Repented of sin, he brought the Sacrificial animal to the Temple (it must be a animal that he owns from his flock or bought) and the animal was inspected by the Temple Priests, assuring there were no defects. The Animal, who was selected to be the Substitute for the Man to bear his sin, was considered Holy at the Time of Consecration. The Man’s Sins were transferred to the animal (the Innocent Victim) and the animal was killed in his stead. It was his Substitute. The animal was slain before the Priests, its Life Blood (the Life Blood Principle) paying the debt/wages of sin which is death.
Lev 1:4 And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him.
Lev 1:5 And he shall kill the bullock before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron’s sons, shall bring the blood, and sprinkle the blood round about upon the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The above is the Emblem pointing to the Mercy of the Blood Atonement Effected by the Blood Sacrifice of JESUS CHRIST, not Annually as in the Old Covenant during the Mosaic Dispensation which was only the Shadow of the Good things to come “but Once for All” in the New Covenant (the New Testament).
Heb 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
JESUS CHRIST is the Life Blood Principle’s (Willing) “Innocent Victim”. HE is the Sacrificial Substitute for Believers. CHRIST was Incarnated to Obey the Will of GOD, to Fulfill the Law, to Redeem Mankind and Reconcile Mankind to GOD.
Heb 10:9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
Joh 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
Tit 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
CHRIST was Incarnated in the Flesh (a Body) to Live, to Suffer, to Die, to be Resurrected and to Ascend to HIS Throne in Heaven to Effect the Atonement, Redemption, Salvation, Conversion and Mankind’s Spiritual Evolution for the Furtherance of a Higher Law, a Higher Power and a Higher Morality of Holiness and Righteousness. This is what CHRIST did among many other Works and Being Pure; Sanctified; Innocent; Anointed; Consecrated; Holy and Perfect, HE only had to Perform these Duties once for all.
Heb 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
CHRIST – The Sacrificial Emblem
When JESUS CHRIST was Baptized by John the Baptist, John Declared HIM the “Lamb of GOD”, and Proclaimed to his Disciples “Behold the Lamb of GOD which takes away the sin of the World”.
Joh 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
CHRIST was Emblematic of the Paschal Lamb/the Passover Lamb and the Sacrificial Goat (the goat for GOD) of the Atonement which was Sacrificed. All of these Events were a part of the Fulfillment of the Law. Barrabas, a Criminal, was the Emblematic counterpart of the goat (the Scapegoat) that was set at Liberty in the Wilderness, used here Figuratively, to depict the World.
The Mosaic Sacrificial/Atonement Ceremony
The following depiction describes a typical Day of the Atonement Ceremony during the Mosaic Dispensation. Aaron or the High Priest undergoes rigid Purification Rites and Rituals. He then cast lots upon two goats that had been selected for the Ritual. One is chosen on the part of the congregation to serve as a sin offering (Lev_16:5), “one lot for Yahweh, and the other lot for Azazel.” In Lev_16:10, after the first goat has been set apart as a sin offering for Yahweh, it is written: “But the goat, on which the lot fell for Azazel, shall be set alive before Yahweh, to make atonement with him, to send him away for Azazel into the wilderness.”
Lev 16:5 And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.
Lev 16:6 And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house.
Lev 16:7 And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Lev 16:8 And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat.
Lev 16:9 And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORD’S lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering.
Lev 16:10 But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.
Lev 16:11 And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself:
Before the High Priest could Officiate as the Priest for the people he had to Purify himself to be a Holy Vessel of GOD. In addition he had to Present his Sacrifice for Forgiveness of his Sins and the Sins of his Family.
Lev 16:12 And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail:
Lev 16:13 And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not:
Lev 16:14 And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.
Lev 16:15 Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:
In Lev_16:26, it is Written: “And he that letteth go the goat for Azazel shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water.” Unlike the goat selected for GOD and Consecrated Holy, the Scapegoat was Defiled with sin. Before this, in Lev_16:21 mention had been made of what should be done with the goat.
After the Purification of the (inner) sanctuary, of the tent of meeting, and of the altar, the living goat is to be brought, “and Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all … their sins; and he shall put them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a man that is in readiness into the wilderness: and the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a solitary land: and he shall let go the goat in the Wilderness.” The Wilderness is Emblematic or Figurative of “Oblivion”.
This Assertion of “Oblivion” used here is a Forgetting of Offenses, or Remission of Punishment. It is an Act of Amnesty, or General Pardon of Crimes and Offenses, (Sins) granted by a Sovereign (GOD), by which punishment is Stayed or Remitted.
During the Trial of JESUS CHRIST, this occurred as an Emblematic Scene of the above Explanation. JESUS CHRIST was condemned by the Jewish Council called the Sanhedrim and was taken to Pilate, a Roman Official (Governor), to be Condemned to death and Crucified. At that time Israel was under the Rule of Rome and Israel could not Officially Sentence any person to death or Execute them. Pilate, unwilling to Condemn CHRIST to death tried to Evoke the Traditional Amnesty, he offered Annually during the Passover, to Release CHRIST but the Mob refused to let JESUS CHRIST go Free. They chose Barabbas, a Criminal instead.
Mat 27:24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.

The Law of Moses was a Figure/Type and pointed to CHRIST JESUS as a better Hope, a Superior Substance to come. The Law could not offer Perfection.
Heb 7:18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
Heb 7:19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
But, through CHRIST, Believers have the Power of the HOLY GHOST/SPIRIT who works in them and through them and Begets Perfection through Faith in JESUS CHRIST, the Lord. The Law of Moses is now Abolished; Abrogated; Dis-annulled and made void.
Gal 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Gal 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
